Pick of the Vine: Season 15
Paul Myrvolds Theatre Notes
Just to put it out there, I love an evening of short plays that run about ten minutes more or less. It is amazing how these short plays, if well written and well performed, can have an impact that evokes laughter, touches the emotions, or even horrifies. Little Fish Theatre’s Pick of the Vine delivers all this and more.

TheatreGhost
…For the current “Pick of the Vine,” more than 700 playwrights sent in one play each. (That’s right — 700 plays. In San Pedro.)

The judges selected 9 winners, and the troupe has spent the last couple of months creating a show that will run through mid-February. It’s lively evening, full of variety — and rich in surprises.

BroadwayWorld.com
“Like a nine-course prix-fixe feast, this selection of shows is sure to satisfy any theatrical craving, delivering a full meal of exceptionally engaging stories.

A Very Special Holiday Special
WillCall (AVSHS)
“Direction by Holly Baker-Kreiswirth is flawless. The costumes by Diana Mann and the props by Madeleine Drake, are inspired, Levine’s clever blending of popular Christmas carols into the hilarious dialogue, is a continuous source of amusement. If you don’t catch this show [A Very Special Holiday Special], you are depriving yourself of the best holiday present, this year.”

Daily Breeze
“Director Holly Baker-Kreiswirth, having perfectly cast her actors, amps up the humor but keeps the tone just gentle enough, adding poignant touches. Visual jokes enhance verbal ones, while the eight plays hurtle along in completely controlled mayhem.”

Random Lengths News
“A total cast of seven manages to populate these eight plays with their many characters… and each role and play achieves just the tone Levine is sounding at any given moment. This may be low-budget theater, but the work the Little Fish cast and crew does is not on the cheap.”

The Ithaca Ladies Read Medea
Paul Myrvolds Theatre Notes
“Under the savvy direction of Danielle Ozymandias, Mr. Jolly’s play is in turns drawing room comedy, serious social satire, and bitter political drama. It is also utterly fascinating and perfectly absorbing.”

Rapture, Blister, Burn
OnStage – Review: Rapture, Blister Burn’ Posits Feminism Front and Center at Little Fish Theatre
“…make no mistake, this production, mounted by director Mark Piatelli, is nothing short of extraordinary.”

WillCall (RBB)
“RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN… is a wonderful example of two women who each want what the other has.”

Steven Stanley – StageSceneLA.com
“Entertaining and intellectually stimulating in equal measure, Rapture, Blister, Burn proves one of the best Little Fish productions I’ve seen in years.”

Paul Myrvolds Theatre Notes
“Dark, affecting and bodacious, Rapture, Blister, Burn is a hit.”

Press Telegram
“Rapture, Blister, Burn simmers thoughtfully at Little Fish Theatre.”

Broadwayworld.com Los Angeles
“I love that this play captures in equal measure both our hearts and our minds,” states director Mark Piatelli.

The How & the Why
WillCall (H&W)
“A cerebral theatrical experience that commands your attention and does not disappoint.”

Paul Myrvolds Theatre Notes
“If all this sounds erudite and therefore boring, you would be wrong. These intellectual exchanges, fueled by the passion and emotions of relationship, are utterly spellbinding.”
