Brash, straight-talking hairdresser Rita seeks new meaning for her life in Open University. World-weary, alcoholic career academic Frank is a failed poet, and a self-acknowledged “appalling teacher of appalling students.” In need of extra cash, he agrees to tutor Rita. The unlikely pair form a life-changing bond as Rita starts to discover herself and Frank finds a whole new lease on life. Touching, life-affirming, and very, very funny, Educating Rita is a comic masterpiece.
