This charming original one-act play is about links, both overt and hidden. Jerome and Edgar, two friends from very different backgrounds, meet every Saturday on the links. They drive some balls, play a round of golf and love to have intense conversations about the mysteries of the universe in all its infiniteness. As the play unfolds, we observe more links, those between Jerome and his traditional Latina grandmother, and those between Edward Gurshansky and his grandmother, younger sister, and wife. Each family knows of the other only through their common link, Jerome’s and Edgar’s friendship. But as the story develops, we find that there are a more links than meet the eye.

The Beauty Queen of LeenaneTHE BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEENANE
by Martin McDonagh, directed by Ed Cotter, produced by Lisa Coffi
EXTENDED THROUGH JUNE 10, RUNS FRI & SAT @ 8PM & SUN 5/21 @ 7PM

Set in the small village of Leenane, in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland, the play centers on the life of Maureen Folan, a 40-year-old virgin who is the sole caregiver to her 70 year-old mother Mag. Two sisters have escaped into marriage and family life, but Maureen, with a history of mental illness, is trapped in a small, bleak cottage and in an overly dependent, seriously dysfunctional relationship with her mother.

The play rocketed playwright Martin McDonagh to fame at age 25 when it opened in the West End in 1996. By 1998 he became the first playwright since William Shakespeare to have four of his plays produced professionally in London in a single season. A school drop-out, McDonagh collected four Tony Awards for this disarming drama.

Born in London, he has become known as a great Irish playwright in spite of the fact that his knowledge of life in the rural parts of western Ireland about which he writes is based on recollections from summer vacations and the tales told by his Galway-born father. Martin McDonagh is a natural storyteller who delivers laughs, action and a gallery of fascinating rogues.

This show contains mature subject matter and language.

Starring: Jo Black*, Drew Fitzsimmons, Susan Gordon, Don Schlossman (*Actors’ Equity member)

The View from Anderson Park is a provocative and timely story of a good and ethical man who falls prey to circumstances beyond his control.  Max, a Boston contractor, finds himself at a crossroads. Looking out over downtown Boston from Larz Anderson Park , Max stands alone, holding a gun, contemplating his fate. A historical figure that is a figment of Max's imagination serves as the voice of reason and hope as the play journeys through the events that led to his present crisis.  His memories reveal how Max's wife, his ex-lover, and his newly adopted 16 year-old gay son, all end up in one way or another betraying or abandoning him.

Little Fish Theatre is very proud to present the world premiere workshop production of The View from Anderson Park, written by Little Fish Theatre Company's resident playwright Mark Piatelli, who was seen as "Hamlet" this summer in Shakespeare by the Sea. The workshop preview on October 20th and 21st gives audiences the opportunity to meet the writer Mark Piatelli and the cast, and offer feedback of Little Fish Theatre's latest production.  The show will then reopen on November 3rd for its debut run.  "A workshop presentation gives the audience a unique opportunity to be a part of bringing a stage show to life, and gives the playwright a chance to hear feedback directly from the audience.  I'm really looking forward to it," says writer Mark Piatelli.
